PTI leader Shandana Gulzar has condemned the suspected anthrax-laced letters sent to Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges, labeling it as an attempt to intimidate and silence them.
PTI leader Shandana Gulzar likened the situation to a scene from a Bollywood movie, suggesting that the perpetrators aimed to instill fear in the judges by sending threatening letters, creating a sense of alarm and apprehension.
Earlier today, reports emerged that at least eight judges of the Islamabad High Court, including the Chief Justice, received letters purportedly containing anthrax.
According to court sources, one of the letters was opened by a judge’s staff and was found to contain an unidentified powder, triggering immediate concern.
In response to the discovery, experts from the Islamabad Police were deployed to the court premises to assess the situation and determine the potential threat posed by the suspicious substance.
The investigation primarily focuses on identifying the nature of the powder and evaluating its potential risks.
Additionally, the letters were reported to contain threatening symbols, further exacerbating the severity of the situation.
Sources within the court revealed that the letter was purportedly authored by a woman named Resham, with no specific address provided.
Meanwhile, Gulzar criticized the postponement of the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, denouncing it as a blatant act of manipulation. She asserted that despite PTI’s government formation in the province, they were coerced into relinquishing their seats to opposition parties.
The decision to postpone the Senate elections in KP was made by Provincial Election Commissioner Shamshad Khan after consultations with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, following an application filed by opposition members.
The opposition, led by Pakistan People’s Party’s Ahmad Karim Kundi, raised concerns over the non-swearing-in of 25 members elected to reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, emphasizing its potential impact on the electoral integrity.
