PTI chief Imran Khan’s involvement in Jinnah House attack

ISLAMABAD: The investigation into Imran Khan’s involvement in the Jinnah House attack has been concluded, and he is now facing charges of aiding and abetting. Meanwhile, the special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has extended Imran Khan’s bail in five cases, including the Jinnah House attack, until August 8.

Special Prosecutor Farhad Ali Shah made an announcement stating that he has found Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), guilty of all charges related to the attack on Lahore’s Jinnah House during the May 9 mayhem. Shah further confirmed that his team has completed the investigation in connection with the PTI chief.

He further stated that his team has gathered evidence of the former prime minister’s involvement in the attack and emphasized the necessity of arresting Imran Khan to present the evidence.The special prosecutor asserted that this is a non-bailable case, making the arrest imperative.

In a separate development, the special anti-terrorism court of Lahore extended Imran Khan’s bail in five cases, including the Jinnah House attack, until August 8. During the court hearing, PTI chief Imran Khan personally appeared before Judge Abhar Gul Khan of the ATC.

May 9 Demonstrations and Their Aftermath: Chaos, Destruction, and the Quest for Justice

PTI workers and supporters staged widespread demonstrations on May 9 following the arrest of Imran Khan by paramilitary troops on the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) orders in connection with an alleged corruption case.

The demonstrations resulted in the destruction of public and private properties, attacks on military installations such as the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House (Jinnah House), as well as the desecration of martyrs’ monuments.

In response to these incidents, the civil and military leadership resolved to take action against all those involved in hooliganism, arson, attacks on sensitive military installations, and vandalism of public and private properties on May 9. They decided to use relevant laws, including the Army Act, to set an example and ensure appropriate punishment.
