Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Extends Tenure of Chief of Air Staff

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a one-year extension for Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, according to sources familiar with the matter. The Prime Minister has forwarded the summary to President Asif Ali Zardari for formal approval of the extension in CAS Sidhu’s tenure.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was scheduled to retire on Monday after completing his three-year tenure as the head of the Air Force. However, with the Prime Minister’s decision to grant him an extension, CAS Sidhu will continue to serve in his position for another year.

The extension comes amidst ongoing strategic developments and the need for continuity in leadership within the Air Force. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s decision reflects confidence in CAS Sidhu’s capabilities and leadership qualities, acknowledging his contributions to the Air Force during his tenure.

This extension ensures stability and consistency in the leadership of the Air Force, allowing CAS Sidhu to continue his efforts in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities and addressing emerging challenges in the aviation sector.

President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to approve the extension in accordance with the Prime Minister’s recommendation, ensuring a smooth transition and uninterrupted leadership within the Pakistan Air Force.
