Women’s Empowerment
ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the pivotal role of health and education facilities in achieving the goal of women’s empowerment. Speaking at a ceremony celebrating women leaders, he underscored the need for a harassment-free environment, enabling women to actively contribute to the workforce and economic growth.
During his address, President Alvi highlighted the importance of women’s rights, citing the saying of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that a man raising two daughters earns a place in paradise.
He acknowledged women as symbols of love and hope in human societies, emphasizing their role in nurturing children and maintaining family systems. The President also reflected on the historical suffering of women in wars and genocides, pointing out the millions of lives lost in such atrocities.
President Alvi criticized the acts of genocide by Israeli forces in Gaza, condemning the killing of thousands of women and children. He attributed these actions to vested interests and a disregard for humanitarian values.
Addressing challenges faced by Pakistan, the President urged unity to overcome issues such as poverty, malnutrition, stunting, and maternal and neonatal deaths. He expressed concern over the more than 26 million children still out of school in the country and advocated for a focus on health and education sectors, drawing inspiration from China’s success in lifting 700 million people out of poverty through similar measures.
President Alvi applauded the Pakistani nation, especially women and youth, for their active participation in the general election.
Meanwhile, First Lady Samina Alvi commended the organizers for recognizing and encouraging women’s contributions in various fields, urging women to avail themselves of easy loans offered by banks for starting businesses. The ceremony highlighted the unsung heroes and their valuable contributions to society.
