PPP leader’s house attacked
ISLAMABAD: The alleged militant of a proscribed outfit threw a hand grenade into the guesthouse of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Pir Muhammad Aslam’s house in Nowshera district’s Risalpur. As a result of the incident, the house suffered partial damage, as per the police.
Aslam registered a report at the CTD police station on Friday. He said that he had received an extortion letter from the banned TTP in July 2022. The TTP militants demanded Rs10 million in extortion. The militants threatened him with severe consequences if he did not pay the extortion money.
According to Aslam, he also received phone calls from Afghanistan. And the militants asked him to arrange the money or face consequences. The militants continued their threats. They made phone calls from Pakistani numbers.

After failing to arrange the money, Aslam claimed that the militants threw a hand grenade at his house on Wednesday night. Fortunately, Aslam and his family members remained unharmed. He, however, said the incident caused partial damage to the house and the adjacent hujra.
The CTD officials initiated an investigation into the matter and registered a case. Later, they released CCTV footage showing a man hurling the grenade into the house and fleeing.
Aslam is the provincial leader of the PPP. He is also a two-time election candidate on the party ticket. He has faced threats from the TTP, which has a history of extortion and attacks against the military.
