PMD predicts nationwide rains during eid holidays in pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms in various regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan from April 10 to April 15, with intermittent breaks. This period coincides with Eidul Fitr.

According to the PMD, a westerly wave is anticipated to enter the upper parts of the country on April 10, followed by another strong wave on April 12, which could affect most parts of the country from April 13 to April 15.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, and other areas may experience rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms from April 10 to April 15. Similarly, in Waziristan, Kohat, and other regions, such weather conditions are expected from April 12 to April 15, accompanied by occasional heavy rainfall and hailstorms.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are also likely to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with snowfall in high-altitude areas from April 10 to April 15, along with the possibility of heavy rainfall and hailstorms.

In Punjab and Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and other areas may witness rain and thunderstorms from April 10, continuing intermittently until April 15. Similar weather patterns are expected in Balochistan from April 12 to April 14.

Sindh, including cities like Karachi and Hyderabad, may experience rain and thunderstorms on April 13 and 14, with isolated occurrences during the period.

The PMD warns of potential flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in various regions from April 13 to April 15, as well as the possibility of landslides in certain areas.

Farmers, particularly those in wheat harvested areas, are advised to take precautions against potential damage to crops, structures, and vehicles due to windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning.

Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the wet spell, as temperatures are expected to drop during this period.
