To advance the transition of federal government offices to a paperless environment, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned the task of implementing this initiative to the information technology ministry and other relevant departments.
In a statement made on Sunday, PM Sharif made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for delays in deploying the e-office system. Starting next month, he will only review files managed through the e-office platform and will not accept any physical documents. This decisive move reflects his dedication to modernizing the federal government’s operations through digital transformation.
The federal government has prioritized the implementation of the e-office system as a key measure to enhance transparency and efficiency. PM Sharif emphasized that all government offices must adopt the e-office platform for managing and processing files. The staff at the Prime Minister’s Office have already completed their training on this new system.
In addition to this initiative, the cabinet committee has proposed reducing 150,000 vacant government positions. PM Sharif has also suggested that provinces should follow Punjab’s example in providing relief on electricity bills. He has expressed his readiness to resign but will not yield to external pressures.
To ensure the successful transition, the Prime Minister has requested a progress report on the e-office system’s implementation across government offices within the next two weeks. The move to the e-office platform is intended to improve transparency, streamline operations, and decrease dependence on physical paperwork.
