The Deputy Commissioner of Pishin has called upon the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) to delay its rally scheduled for April 20 due to a received “threat alert.”
According to a statement issued by the DC Jumardar and directed to the leadership of the religious-political party in Quetta and Pishin, there are reports of potential attacks by unidentified terrorists associated with ITO (Initial Threat Organization) during the JUI-F’s public gathering in Pishin on April 20, 2024. Maulana Fazlur Rehman is expected to participate in this event.
The gathering in Balochistan’s district marks the beginning of JUI-F’s series of protests against the outcomes of the general elections held on February 8, which the party has contested.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the election results, Rehman had previously declared a boycott of by-elections nationwide, alleging that the Parliament represented the establishment rather than the people of the country.
The official statement from the district government emphasized the ongoing threat of terrorism, citing previous incidents such as the Pishin blast on February 7, a day before the elections, which claimed 17 lives, as well as the recent killing of a Levies personnel in a terrorist attack.
The district government urged the JUI-F to consider postponing the planned public gathering in Pishin on April 20 due to the perceived threat alerts.
