KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the exciting launch of its inaugural direct flight from Dubai to Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan. This maiden flight is scheduled to take off on August 14, 2023, coinciding with Pakistan’s Independence Day. The introduction of this route represents a significant step towards boosting tourism in the picturesque northern region of Pakistan.
PIA Spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan expressed the significance of this event. He stated, “This is a landmark moment for both PIA and the people of Pakistan. The initiation of this new flight path will enhance the accessibility of Skardu for international travelers. It would foster the growth of tourism in this enchanting region.”
Skardu, situated at an elevation of 7,000 feet above sea level, boasts breathtaking natural beauty. Its landscape is adorned with snow-covered peaks, pristine lakes, and verdant valleys. Khan remarked, “Skardu is a hidden gem, and we firmly believe that it holds the potential to emerge as a prominent tourist destination in the area. The introduction of this flight route will simplify travel to Skardu, enabling visitors to fully immerse themselves in its offerings.”
