Peshawar BRT Extends Nasir Bagh Route DR-14 with Six New Stops

Peshawar BRT

TransPeshawar, the operator of Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, has expanded route DR-14 with the addition of six new stops along Nasir Bagh Road, effective from Monday.

According to Sadaf Kamil, spokesperson for TransPeshawar, these new stops were included in response to public demand to improve service accessibility.

The newly introduced stops on route DR-14 include Masjid Abu Hurairah, Bangash Park, PDA Office, Masjid Umar Farooq, Masjid Abu Bakr, and Professor Model Town.

This brings the total number of stops on the route to 22, enhancing connectivity from Islamia College to DHA (Defence Housing Authority).

Route DR-14 serves several key locations, including Naseer Teaching Hospital, PSO Stop, Police Colony, Askari 6 Phase 2, Askari 6 Phase 1, Mian Khan Garhi, Badizai, Regi Model Town, and now extends further with the new stops.

“These additions have been implemented to enhance convenience and accessibility for the public,” stated Sadaf Kamal.

“Route DR-14 significantly benefits residents of Regi Model Town, DHA, Canal Town, Police Colony, and students of Islamia College and the University of Peshawar.”

The Peshawar BRT system, a flagship project of the KP government, received a subsidy of Rs3 billion to support its operations.

In a recent move to sustain operational costs, the provincial government increased fares on the BRT system by Rs5 to Rs10 in May.

The expansion and enhancement of routes and stops are part of ongoing efforts to optimize the BRT system’s efficiency and cater better to the commuting needs of Peshawar’s residents.

TransPeshawar continues to monitor feedback and demands from the public to further improve service delivery across its network.
