People’s Bus Service
The Sindh Transport Department has announced an extension in the operating hours of the People’s Bus Service to accommodate commuters during the holy month of Ramazan.
This decision comes in response to the increased demand for public transport during this time, as many people travel late into the night for prayers, shopping, and social gatherings.
Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that starting from the 15th of Ramazan, the bus service will operate until 1 am.
The extended hours will be applicable to several key routes, including R1, R2, R3, R4, R9, R10, and EV1, ensuring that a larger number of passengers benefit from the initiative.
Memon highlighted the Sindh government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Karachi’s residents, particularly during Ramazan when the need for reliable and accessible public transport increases significantly.
He acknowledged that many people struggle to find safe and affordable transport options late at night, and the extension of bus timings aims to ease this difficulty.
The minister further stated that the government is taking active measures to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers, particularly those returning home after late-night shopping or religious activities. He assured citizens that law enforcement agencies and transport authorities would work together to maintain a secure travel environment.
Additionally, Memon urged Karachi’s residents to take full advantage of the extended hours and emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to improving public welfare. He reiterated that the Sindh government is continuously working on enhancing the public transport system, making it more efficient and accessible for all.
This step is expected to provide much-needed relief to thousands of daily commuters, facilitating smoother travel during the fasting month.
The move has been welcomed by citizens who rely on the People’s Bus Service for their daily transport needs, particularly during Ramazan’s busy evening and late-night hours.
