A spokesperson for the PCB confirmed the dissolution of the current selection committee and announced that a new committee would be formed shortly.
The spokesperson emphasized that the forthcoming selection committee would prioritize merit-based decisions and ensure transparency in its operations.
The former Test cricketer Wahab Riaz led the now-dissolved selection committee, which also comprised former Test players Wajahatullah Wasti, Wasim Haider, Kamran Akmal, and Taseef Ahmed.
Meanwhile, there was a notable development as seasoned all-rounder Imad Wasim declared his decision to reverse his retirement, expressing his readiness to represent the Pakistan cricket team once again.
In another significant move, Mohsin Naqvi secured an uncontested election as the new chairman of the PCB, securing a three-year tenure.
This decision was made during a PCB Governing Board meeting held at the National Cricket Academy. The announcement followed a pivotal gathering at the National Cricket Academy, where representatives from various regions and organizations participated in the electoral process.
The inclusivity of the election process was underscored by the presence of influential representatives from diverse regions and organizations on the Governing Board.
The Election Commissioner, Shah Khawar, was entrusted with overseeing the election process, ensuring diligence and impartiality in conducting the proceedings.
