Pakistan’s Envoy Confirms Tragic Incident: Nine Pakistanis Killed in Saravan, Iran

Nine Pakistani nationals lost their lives in the Iranian city of Saravan on Saturday, as reported by Pakistan’s ambassador to Tehran, Muddasir Tipu. Earlier today, Iran’s Mehr news agency conveyed that unidentified armed individuals fatally attacked nine non-Iranians in a residence in the Sirkan neighborhood of Saravan in the Sistan-Baluchistan province.

The victims, according to Baluch rights group Haalvash, were Pakistani laborers residing and working at an auto repair shop, with three others sustaining injuries.

Expressing deep shock over the incident, Ambassador Mudassir pledged full support to the grieving families and urged Iran to cooperate fully in the matter. The tragic event unfolded just a day after Mudassir arrived in Tehran, coinciding with his Iranian counterpart’s landing in Islamabad, symbolizing the restoration of diplomatic ties following recent tensions.

In response to the attack, Ambassador Mudassir called for Iran’s cooperation while Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is expected to visit Islamabad, extending an invitation from his Pakistani counterpart.

The recent strain in relations stemmed from Iran’s strikes on alleged terrorist targets in Pakistan, leading to reciprocal actions and a subsequent diplomatic downgrade.

The National Security Committee of Pakistan, in a meeting chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, affirmed the commitment to reducing tensions with Iran.

Both countries expressed the importance of mutual dialogue to address security concerns and pledged to deepen historic relations. The foreign ministers discussed collaboration on counterterrorism efforts and agreed to de-escalate tensions, paving the way for the possible restoration of diplomatic normalcy.
