Islamabad: In a recent briefing, the Foreign Office of Pakistan shed light on a security operation conducted in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border regions less than a week ago. According to FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the operation, carried out on March 18, targeted terrorists associated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, emphasizing that civilian populations in Afghanistan were not the focus of the attacks.
Ms. Baloch clarified that the operation aimed at Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists, who have been responsible for numerous casualties within Pakistan. Stressing that the operation was not directed against the Afghan people, institutions, or government, she affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to respecting regional security and Afghanistan’s sovereignty, expressing readiness for collaborative efforts to address mutual challenges.
The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism on its soil, highlighting the submission of a protest communiqué to Afghanistan regarding the terrorist attack. Ms. Baloch underscored Pakistan’s consistent provision of evidence regarding terrorist presence in Afghanistan, asserting that current intelligence indicates a peaceful situation along the Afghan border.
