After more than a decade, Pakistan and Bangladesh are set to resume formal diplomatic consultations, marking a significant development in regional diplomacy. Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch has arrived in Dhaka to participate in the long-anticipated bilateral political talks scheduled for Thursday. She was welcomed by Bangladesh’s Director General for South Asia, Ishrat Jahan.
The high-level discussions will be led by the foreign secretaries of both countries, with delegations from Pakistan and Bangladesh engaging in a broad-ranging dialogue. Topics on the agenda include bilateral relations, regional dynamics, and increased cooperation across various sectors.
This marks the first round of political consultations between the two nations since 2012. The revival of this dialogue is being viewed as a major diplomatic milestone, offering a chance to reset ties and foster greater understanding.
In a follow-up to the talks, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to visit Bangladesh from April 22 to 24. His visit aims to deepen both economic and political collaboration between Islamabad and Dhaka.
Diplomatic insiders are hopeful that these renewed engagements will lay the groundwork for stronger bilateral ties and enhanced cooperation in the region.
