Pakistan Accuses India of Extraterritorial Espionage and Sponsored Terrorism, Calls for Regional Cooperation

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office, asserted that Pakistan possesses evidence of India engaging in extraterritorial espionage, alleging that India has been responsible for sponsored terrorism, particularly in South Asia.

Speaking on the Rubaroo show with Shaukat Piracha, Baloch expressed Pakistan’s desire to collaborate with regional countries to address challenges like poverty and instability. However, she identified India’s bullying attitude as a hindrance to regional stabilization.

Regarding terrorist attacks in Pakistan, Baloch claimed that such incidents have increased, primarily orchestrated by individuals operating from across the border. Investigations reportedly revealed connections between terrorists in Pakistan and those based in Afghanistan. Baloch stated that Pakistan has presented its concerns and evidence to Afghan authorities, urging action against outlawed groups like the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

In response to an Afghan minister’s comments on Pakistan’s handling of the banned TTP, Baloch emphasized that Pakistan maintains a firm stance of not engaging in dialogue with terrorists responsible for attacking its armed forces and civilians. She reiterated the government’s position that there will be no negotiations with such groups.

Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry Granted 6-Day Physical Remand In Corruption Case

Meanwhile, an accountability court in Islamabad has granted a six-day physical remand for former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in a case related to misappropriation in construction projects in Jhelum.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took Fawad into custody earlier this month in connection with the corruption case.

The court remarked that the investigation should be completed, allowing Fawad to meet his lawyers, and he will be presented before the court on January 5, 2024.

Fawad Chaudhry faced multiple allegations, including accusations of using influence as a minister and misappropriation in a Public Sector Development Programmes (PSDP) project.

He argued that the project was approved by federal and provincial governments, and the NAB did not have jurisdiction to initiate an inquiry against him.
