Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omer Ayub Khan, has responded to peculiar allegations of stealing biscuits from a truck while speaking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court on Wednesday.
“I have been accused of stealing biscuits from a truck,” Ayub remarked, without delving into the origins or specifics of the claim. He also noted that “no one appears in court willingly,” referring to his ongoing legal battles.
Ayub further revealed that after his bail was revoked in a Rawalpindi court case, police were present at the hearing, indicating possible preparations for his arrest.
Addressing his absence from the recent National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, Ayub stated that his party had requested permission to meet their leader, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, before attending the session.
“We formally requested a meeting with our founding chairman Imran Khan before the National Security Committee session,” he said. “When this request was denied, we chose not to participate.”
Ayub also pointed out that political groups from Balochistan similarly boycotted the NSC meeting, citing concerns over the province’s deteriorating security situation. “Balochistan is in turmoil,” he remarked.
The opposition leader stressed that his party has “firmly condemned” the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist organization responsible for several violent incidents in the region.
