Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik has dismissed concerns regarding a potential US visa ban on Pakistan, clarifying that no such restrictions are being imposed.
Speaking on Thursday, Malik explained that the United States is currently reviewing its visa policies as part of broader efforts to enhance border security and national protection. However, he emphasized that these policy adjustments are not specifically aimed at Pakistan or any other country.
“The US State Department has categorically stated that no country is facing an indiscriminate visa ban. The ongoing review is purely intended to strengthen security measures,” he affirmed.
Malik further highlighted that visa restrictions and policy revisions are becoming a global trend. He pointed out that nations such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have also recently tightened their visa regulations, aligning with international efforts to reinforce immigration controls.
He reassured that Pakistan continues to engage in diplomatic discussions to safeguard its interests and maintain positive relations with the international community.
“Pakistan is actively addressing any concerns through diplomatic channels to ensure that the rights and interests of its citizens are upheld,” Malik added.
This clarification comes amid growing speculation regarding potential visa restrictions, particularly as countries worldwide revise their immigration policies in response to evolving security challenges.
The minister reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to fostering strong diplomatic ties and ensuring smooth international travel for its citizens.
As visa policies continue to evolve globally, Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aim to mitigate any undue impact while reinforcing its international partnerships.
