PTI president exploited his official role, leveraging his authority to award contracts to favorite contractors
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has compiled a report stating that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the President of PTI, abused his position while serving as the chief minister. The report reveals that he managed to secure approval for 116 schemes exclusively benefiting his hometown, Gujrat.
The NAB has prepared a report regarding the case of fraud and kickbacks in government contracts against former chief minister Elahi.
According to the NAB report, Parvez Elahi has been implicated in corruption. While serving as the chief minister of Punjab, Elahi orchestrated the approval of 116 development schemes for Gujrat in collaboration with his co-suspects in order to serve his personal interests.
The report highlights that he exploited his authoritative position as the chief minister to grant contracts to his preferred contractors, as stated by the NAB report.
Furthermore, the bureau alleges that subsequent to awarding contracts to his favored contractors, the PTI president received kickbacks through an intermediary.
The report highlights that he maliciously allocated funds in advance for these schemes.
Furthermore, the NAB’s findings implicate the former chief minister in diverting funds meant for other schemes towards projects in Gujrat.
The bureau’s report maintains that Parvez Elahi misappropriated his authority as the provincial head and in doing so, engaged in receiving kickbacks.
In its conclusion, the report firmly establishes Elahi’s involvement in corruption and corrupt practices.
