Monsoon season returns to Karachi today

Winds from the Bay of Bengal have reached the central and upper parts of Karachi, ushering in another monsoon season.

The Meteorological Department predicts that Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar will all see significant rainfall today. The monsoon will last until July 18th, forecasters say.

The city’s current humidity is 81%, and the high is forecast to be between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius.

The city of Karachi has not yet fully recovered from the first round of monsoons. Several roads throughout the city, including those in the Gulberg and Guru Mandir neighborhoods, have been severely damaged. The flooding and ensuing damage have been costly to local businesses.

DHA streets continue to get flooded.

PTI’s Shagufta Nasreen recommends using tractors to complete the drainage.
