ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination requested the removal of Zaka Ashraf from his position as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, citing his appointment being politically motivated.
The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination has written a letter to the Principal Secretary of the caretaker PM Kakar. In the letter, they request the removal of Zaka Ashraf from his position as Chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
The letter referenced a notification from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), stating: “To ensure immediate termination of services of all heads of the institutions appointed on political basis and to send all such cases to the commission for approval of termination or otherwise”.
Furthermore, the ministry requested the dismissal of Peer Syed Ahmed Nawaz Shah from his position as Chairman of the Federal Land Commission.
Notably, Zaka Ashraf, backed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), took over as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee on July 6.
Originally, the elections for the chairman were set to take place on June 27 at the PCB headquarters in Lahore.
However, the election’s timing was disrupted by stay orders from multiple courts across the country, which notably encompassed the Balochistan High Court, leading to its postponement.
