KARACHI: A shocking robbery incident has been reported in Karachi, where gold worth more than Rs 10 million was allegedly stolen by the manager of the Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine.
The caretaker minister of Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Umar Soomro, has dismissed the shrine’s manager, Zubair Baloch, and instructed authorities to register a robbery case against him.

According to the Auqaf department, gold worth Rs 12,372,863 was stolen from Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in the past month. The Minister of Auqaf spokesperson revealed that the manager, Zubair Baloch, confessed to the robbery in front of the inquiry committee.
In response, the caretaker minister Umar Soomro directed the halt of the manager’s pension and forwarded the case to the Anti-Corruption Department.
In a separate incident related to robbery, evidence has emerged pointing to the involvement of an under-training police officer in a heist in Orangi Town Sector 5.
The under-training DSP of District South Police is suspected to be involved in the robbery, where around 20 million rupees, 70 to 80 tola gold jewelry, and other valuables were stolen from a house in Orangi Town.
Sources indicate that the police have returned half of the stolen cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, and a laptop. Additionally, there are allegations that police officers are pressuring the victim to avoid registering an FIR for the incident.
