Lahore Blanketed in Thick Fog

Thick Fog

Lahore and its surrounding areas found themselves ensconced in thick fog, intensifying the cold weather and causing disruptions to daily life. The motorways were compelled to shut down due to reduced visibility, adding to the difficulties faced by citizens commuting within the city.

The broader weather scenario across the country, as highlighted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), depicted a prevailing dry and cold weather pattern. The northern regions experienced an escalation in cold temperatures, while the plain areas of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa grappled with the challenges of dense fog and smog.

Skardu recorded the lowest temperature of the day at -7°C, indicative of the intensified cold in the northern areas. Other regions, including Astore, Dir Parachinar, and Rawalakot, registered temperatures at -3°C. The stark contrast in temperature readings underlines the diverse weather conditions prevailing across different parts of the country.

The impact of the dense fog extended beyond Lahore, affecting the functionality of major motorways and posing risks to commuters. Such weather conditions often lead to disruptions in transportation, creating challenges for individuals navigating through the city.

As the cold weather tightened its grip on various regions, the citizens braced themselves for the complexities associated with winter conditions. The situation underscored the need for caution and preparedness, emphasizing the importance of staying informed about weather updates to mitigate potential challenges posed by the ongoing cold spell and foggy conditions.
