Killers of Zeeshan Afzal, General Manager HR arrested in Karachi, confess murder

KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Karachi police have arrested the killers of Zeeshan Afzal, General Manager, HR of a healthcare entity in Karachi, during a robbery.

41-year-old Zeeshan Afzal man was shot dead by dacoits when he resisted a mugging attempt in Gulistan-e-Johar Block-14 in September. Zeeshan Afzal did MBA from London and joined a healthcare organization in Karachi as its General Manager, Human Resources.

Zeeshan Afzal was sitting in his car, (No. BL-09), with his wife and two children outside a food outlet in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 14. Suddenly, two armed men arrived there on a motorcycle.

According to police, the robbers clocked the chamber of his pistol, put pistol on Zeeshan’s head and asked him to hand over all of his valuables.

The dacoits shot Zeeshan on his forehead and killed him when he put up resistance and ran away from the crime scene.

Police said the killers have been arrested and they have confessed to their crimes. The murderers of Zeeshan have been identified as John alias Johny and Yasir alias Gogo. John is a habitual criminal, police said.

On the day of the murder, the accused had snatched a mobile phone from another family before approaching Zeeshan. After the murder of Zeeshan, Johny got his bail canceled and went to prison.

In confessional video, Yasir said, “There’s an ice cream parlor near Kamran Chowrangi, we saw a car parked there and a family was sitting inside, there was a man in the driving seat and they were having ice cream.”

Yasir said that John told him to stop the bike in front of the car. “As soon as I stopped the bike, John pointed the gun at him and told him to hand over everything to us. The man tried to resist and took his hand out and John thought he was trying to snatch his pistol and he shot him,” he added.

Zeeshan’s wife identified the accused during the identification parade.
