KE claims no load shed as Bin Qasim facility goes offline

During the commissioning of K-Electric Bin Qasim Power Station 3 (BQPS-III), a fault was discovered during a test that resulted in the shutdown of the first unit.

According to the K-Electric, the issue was discovered during the last stages of commissioning.

Siemens AG and Harbin Electric International – the contractor’s consortium – were conducting the tests while assessing the situation. The fault was isolated to a section of the gas time.

Because of this, we’re keeping a close eye on things and trusting the worldwide team of specialists entrusted with getting things back to normal as quickly as possible while the plant is still being tested.

According to the K-Electric, the facility would come back online in 8 to 10 weeks.

An estimated 900MW of power will be generated by the $650 million project.
