Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazalur Rehman (JUI-F) has declared its support for Saira Bano, the Grand Democratic Alliance’s (GDA) candidate from NA-210 (Sanghar-II) in the upcoming General Elections 2024, according to ARY News.
Despite this endorsement, the JUI-F has declined to extend its support to the GDA’s candidate for the Sindh Assembly’s PS-44 seat. Saira Bano urged the JUI-F to back the GDA in both national and provincial constituencies.
Taking a critical stance against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Saira Bano accused the party of corruption in Sindh over the past 15 years. She questioned the PPP’s continued rule, stating, “PPP has been looting Sindh for the last 15 years. How many more years will it loot the province?”
Saira Bano asserted that the PPP cannot secure electoral victories without resorting to rigging. She also mentioned that the GDA alone might not be able to form the Sindh government as it has not fielded enough candidates.
Addressing the recent decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to revoke the “bat” symbol from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Saira Bano expressed her disapproval, stating that taking symbols away from political parties is not a positive tradition.
Saira Bano is set to contest the 2024 elections from NA-210 (Sanghar-II), where she is expected to face tough competition from the PPP’s Salahuddin Junejo.
In earlier developments, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and GDA have reportedly ‘almost finalized’ their seat adjustment deal for the February 8 elections in Sindh. Sources indicate that the GDA is prepared to support PML-N candidates on eight provincial assembly and eight National assembly seats in Sindh.
