Former National Assembly member Jamshed Dasti has accused intelligence agencies and the Counter Terrorism Department of raiding his home, claiming that his wife was subjected to stripping and his children were physically harmed. He has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene.
In a distressing video shared on X, Dasti, visibly disturbed and wrapped in a white shawl, asserted that his family was held captive for several hours. He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene.
Dasti, who hails from a working-class background and has been elected to the National Assembly four times, disclosed that he was implicated in a case but had already secured protective bail after nine months of legal battles. He went on to accuse intelligence and CTD officials of extreme actions, stating that his friends’ houses were also raided, and the entire area was under the control of 40 vehicles.
Expressing the toll on his mental state, Dasti urged members of his tribe to unite, emphasizing that their honor was under attack. Despite being prepared to face any consequences, he vowed to resist those who had raided his residence. Tearfully addressing the Chief Justice, he lamented the degradation of elections into a mockery, with people’s homes and families now becoming targets.
Dasti concluded by stating his commitment to living and dying in Pakistan, expressing indifference towards the election outcome but demanding an end to the injustice that he believed was jeopardizing the nation.
