ISPR Announces Killing of Four Terrorists in North Waziristan Operation

North Waziristan Operation

Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the elimination of four terrorists, including a suicide bomber, as confirmed by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation, prompted by reported terrorist presence, involved intense fire exchange between security forces and the militants.

The ISPR highlighted that the terrorists were actively engaged in various anti-security forces activities and were planning a high-profile terrorist attack. The proactive response by security forces averted the planned attack. Additionally, arms, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the terrorists.

The military’s media wing emphasized that a sanitization operation is underway in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists, underscoring the determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.

This operation comes amidst a recent surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefire between the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and the government in November 2022.

Notably, the ISPR reported earlier incidents, including the killing of three terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district and the neutralization of five terrorists in Balochistan’s Awaran district. Another operation in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area resulted in the death of five terrorists.

Pakistan has experienced an increase in terror incidents, with a focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies reported the highest number of suicide attacks since 2014 in 2023, with nearly half targeting security forces. This underscores the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism, necessitating continued efforts by security forces to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
