On Tuesday, the parliamentary committee held a meeting where they received an update on the leopard situation that had been causing concern among residents of DHA 2.
Dha2 is one of the most expensive housing societies in Islamabad.
Vaqar Zakaria is a member of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB).
He briefed the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change.

The wild animal was a leopard, and it likely came from the forest cover behind Sihala, where people had reported sightings before.

Including the recent sighting of a leopard in a residential area, proposals for the Public Sector Development Fund (PSDP) budget, and the Pakistan Environment Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2023:
Vaqar provided an update:
The IWMB was engaging with international experts to determine the safest way to release leopard back into its natural habitat.

The Islamabad Police filed a case against an Unknown/unnamed person for “domesticating” a leopard.
Authorities spent hours attempting to trap the cat after images of it dashing along a road and mounting a wall in Islamabad’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase II suburb went viral on social media.
ICT Police issued an official statement reporting an incident in which a leopard attacked citizens in the DHA Phase II area, which is under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sihala.
Moreover, The statement also revealed that the animal was being kept as a pet by an unidentified individual.
