ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been ranked higher than both India and the United States in Numbeo’s 2025 Global Safety Index, marking a significant improvement in the country’s global security standing.
According to data released today, Pakistan secured the 65th position, surpassing India (66th) and the United States (89th). The rankings, based on crime statistics and public perception, indicate that Pakistan’s safety levels have improved relative to some of the world’s largest economies.
Numbeo, a crowd-sourced global database, evaluates safety based on multiple factors, including street crime, violent incidents, personal security, and public confidence in law enforcement.
Andorra Tops the Safety Index
At the top of the rankings is Andorra, a small European nation, with a safety index score of 84.7. It is followed by the UAE (84.5), Qatar (84.2), Taiwan (82.9), and Oman (81.7). Gulf nations outperformed several Western countries, reflecting the region’s growing focus on public security and crime prevention.
Pakistan’s Rising Security Perception
The methodology of Numbeo’s index includes surveys on crime rates, personal safety during the day and night, and experiences with law enforcement. While official crime data may present a different picture, the index highlights global perceptions of security improvements in Pakistan.
With its 65th-place ranking, Pakistan is now perceived as safer than several nations with historically strong law enforcement frameworks. Meanwhile, the UK ranked 87th with a safety index of 51.7, while the U.S. stood at 89th with 50.8 points.
World’s Most Dangerous Countries
On the other end of the spectrum, Venezuela was ranked the most dangerous country, followed by Papua New Guinea, Haiti, Afghanistan, and South Africa.
