Faizabad Sit-in Case
The Faizabad Dharna Inquiry Commission has summoned former Lieutenant General (retired) Faiz Hameed to provide a statement next week through the Ministry of Defence.
This marks the second summons for Hameed by the Commission. Additionally, the Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a notice to him in a case involving the dismissal of former Islamabad High Court judge Shaukat Siddique.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, extended the notice to Faiz Hameed, addressing serious allegations made by Siddique. The court also issued notices to former IHC Chief Justice Anwar Kasi, ex-Supreme Court registrar Arbab Arif, and Brigadier Irfan Ramay.
Notably, the court acknowledged the mention of General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa in the case but clarified that since Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui did not directly implicate Bajwa, the notice was specifically issued to the retired Chief of Army Staff.
Siddiqui had previously filed an application with the Supreme Court, urging the inclusion of former army chief Gen (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former ISI head Faiz Hameed as parties in the case related to his suspension.
The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the appeal against Siddiqui’s suspension, with Justices Aminuddin, Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Hassan Azhar Rizvi, and Irfan Saadat comprising the five-member bench.
IHC Judge Aurangzeb Says A Dreadful System Is Prevailing Under The Caretaker Government
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, a judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a stern rebuke to the caretaker government on Friday, criticizing what it termed as a “dreadful system” prevailing in the country and casting doubt on its impartiality.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb expressed concerns over the caretaker setup, highlighting that it obstructed even the consultation process for the upcoming February 8 elections, raising suspicions about the government’s commitment to conducting fair polls.
