Ex-Aide Claims Imran Khan Divorced Reham Khan On Instructions Of Bushra Bibi

According to testimony given before a judge on Thursday, Aun Chaudhry, an ex-aide to the former prime minister, stated that Imran Khan divorced his second wife Reham Khan on the instructions of Bushra Bibi.

During a hearing of a petition seeking action against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman for allegedly marrying his present wife during her Iddat period, someone gave the testimony.

To ensure that women remain unmarried after the dissolution of their marriage, a waiting period of 130 days, also known as a period of abstinence, is imposed.

Aun Chaudhry, who witnessed Imran Khan’s third Nikah in 2018, testified before the trial court that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi tied the knot before the end of the latter’s Iddat.

The same court had earlier heard testimony from Mufti Mohammad Saeed, who had conducted the Nikah on April 12.

Adviser to Prime Minister

Aun Chaudhry, who currently serves as an adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, testified that he had a close relationship with Imran Khan and was responsible for his political and personal affairs.

Chaudhry stated that Bushra Bibi had asked Imran Khan to end his marriage with Reham Khan for the sake of their future, and Imran Khan followed her instruction by divorcing Reham Khan in 2015 while she was abroad, sending her the divorce documents via email.

Chaudhry’s statement indicated that the divorce had caused Imran Khan mental anguish, prompting him to ask Chaudhry to accompany him to Bushra Bibi’s home one day.

In his testimony, Aun Chaudhry stated that Imran Khan had asked him to make arrangements for his marriage with Bushra Bibi on January 1, 2018.

Imran Khan assured Chaudhry about Bushra Bibi’s divorce.

The next day, Chaudhry left for Lahore with Mufti Saeed and Zulfi Bukhari, another witness to the Nikah.

Chaudhry told the court that when Mufti Saeed asked Imran Khan about the divorce, he said he would show the deed later.

Imran’s former adviser confirmed that the Nikah had taken place before the expiration of the Iddat period, which fell on February 17 or 18.

Aun Chaudhry stated that Imran Khan had told him he married Bushra Bibi because she predicted he would become the prime minister if they married on January 1, 2018.

After recording Aun Chaudhry’s statement, the judge adjourned the hearing until May 10. The court will determine the case’s admissibility on the next hearing date.
