High Stakes, Cloudy Skies: Will Rain Play Spoilsport in Pakistan-India Asia Cup Clash on Saturday?

ISLAMABAD: The much-awaited Asia Cup match between Pakistan and India, set to take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on Saturday, might experience disruptions owing to adverse weather conditions. The day’s forecasts point to a substantial chance of rain.

AccuWeather, the forecasting agency, has predicted unfavorable conditions in Kandy for the scheduled 2:30 pm (PST) start of the match.

Their forecast indicates the likelihood of “thundery showers and light winds” from 8:30 am onwards, persisting until around 4:30 pm. Additionally, they expect “light rain showers with light winds” to continue throughout the day.

The forecaster has also stated a 94 percent chance of precipitation, with three spells of showers projected.

Moving to the nighttime forecast, AccuWeather anticipates an 87 percent chance of rain, with the potential for heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, another weather tracking website, Weather.com, has predicted an 80 percent chance of rain during the day and a 70 percent chance after sunset.

It’s worth recalling a significant match from 2019, featuring arch-rivals, which was notably affected by rain.

In that encounter, the 2019 World Cup clash, India emerged victorious with an 89-run win through the application of the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Imran Khan’s Cipher Case: IHC Postpones Hearing Of Plea

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing on the petition challenging PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s trial in the Cipher case at Attock Jail. At the defense counsel’s request for an early hearing, the judge scheduled it for the following week.

In the course of the hearing, the court confronted objections raised regarding the application. Imran Khan’s attorney pointed out two objections, one of which pertained to consolidating multiple pleas within a single application.

Responding to this concern, the chief justice concurred to deal with the objections and directed the lawyer to elaborate on the merits of the case.
