Gandapur Missing: KP Assembly to Hold Urgent Meeting

KP Assembly

An emergency session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Provincial Assembly has been scheduled for 2:00 PM today to address the mysterious disappearance of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The Assembly Secretariat issued a formal notice on Sunday, calling for the session amidst growing concerns surrounding the Chief Minister’s whereabouts and the political instability it has triggered.

The session aims to address several critical issues, starting with the alleged abduction of Chief Minister Gandapur.

In addition to this, the assembly will discuss reports of mistreatment of women and children at the KP House in Islamabad, damage to the property, and alleged violent actions by the Islamabad police during the ongoing PTI protest.

The atmosphere in the KP Provincial Assembly is expected to be highly charged as lawmakers gather to debate these pressing concerns.

Barrister Muhammad Saif, the KP Information Minister, stated that the emergency session was convened to respond to the current political crisis. He expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of Gandapur, as well as the reported incidents of violence at KP House.

Saif emphasized that the assembly needs to discuss the political implications of these developments and determine an appropriate course of action.

Earlier, Barrister Saif had disclosed that the whereabouts of Chief Minister Gandapur were unknown since Saturday morning. According to Saif, the last communication with Gandapur was at 8:00 AM via satellite phone.

Despite multiple attempts to reach him, all subsequent efforts have failed, raising suspicions of foul play. Saif stated that Gandapur was with his staff when Rangers officials reportedly arrived at KP House in Islamabad, and since then, no contact has been established.

Speaking on a private television program, Barrister Saif reiterated the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that Gandapur’s disappearance raises many questions.

He expressed concern over the potential violation of legal rights, noting that Gandapur had received bail from the Peshawar High Court.

Therefore, any attempt to detain him without legal justification would be tantamount to contempt of court. Saif urged the authorities to clarify the situation and respect the legal protections in place for the Chief Minister.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding Gandapur’s disappearance have sparked widespread speculation, leading to heightened tensions in both KP and Islamabad. While the federal government has denied any involvement in his alleged abduction, the lack of information has fueled fears of political unrest.

The emergency session of the KP Assembly is expected to explore possible resolutions and push for an official inquiry into Gandapur’s disappearance, as well as the broader issues of violence and alleged police misconduct.

As the situation unfolds, political observers are closely monitoring the response of both provincial and federal authorities.

The outcome of the emergency session could set the tone for how KP and the federal government handle this escalating crisis, which has already disrupted political activities and raised concerns over the stability of governance in the region.
