Former CJP Isa
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Pakistan High Commission in London to initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for the attack on the vehicle of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa in the United Kingdom’s capital.
This instruction comes following an incident where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters protested against the former jurist outside a venue in London.
The former CJP had been honoured at a ceremony where he was bestowed with the prestigious title of ‘Bencher of Middle Temple.’
As Qazi Faez Isa was departing the event, a group of PTI activists assaulted his vehicle and attempted to block its path.
Several PTI leaders, including Malika Bokhari, Zulfi Bukhari, and Azhar Mashwani, addressed the protestors at the demonstration.
The activists expressed their grievances against the former chief justice, who has been accused by PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, of holding an anti-PTI stance.
Khan has publicly stated that Isa played a significant role in his legal troubles and the subsequent crackdown on his party.
In response to this violent incident, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has taken swift action, instructing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take appropriate measures.
The foreign ministry has expressed regret over the assault on the former CJP and emphasized the importance of legal action against those involved.
It has issued directives calling for the attackers to face legal consequences, ensuring that they receive appropriate punishment for their actions.
Additionally, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken a strong stance on the matter. He announced that the passports of those involved in the attack would be cancelled.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been instructed to take immediate steps to identify the assailants using available footage from the event. Naqvi stressed the importance of locating the individuals responsible and ensuring they face the full force of the law.
Legal proceedings are also set to be initiated against the attackers in Pakistan. The interior minister confirmed that a formal complaint will be filed, followed by actions such as blocking the attackers’ identity cards and cancelling their passports.
Furthermore, Naqvi indicated that citizenship revocation proceedings will be launched against the assailants, with the case for revoking their citizenship being submitted to the federal cabinet for approval.
He underscored that such violent actions against a respected figure like the former CJP will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and the government will take all necessary steps to ensure justice is served.
