ISLAMABAD: Merely a few weeks after introducing support for HD photos, Meta’s messaging application, WhatsApp, has now enabled users to transmit videos in high-definition (HD) resolution.
The company has introduced HD video support for both iOS and Android users.
Like the HD photos feature, the HD videos feature enables customers to choose high-definition videos for sharing on WhatsApp.
Previously, the platform compressed HD videos to 480p. Now, users can select to send videos in HD, but only up to 720p.
The process mirrors that of sharing HD photos. Upon selecting the desired video or videos for sharing, users will tap the new HD button at the top of the screen.
A dialogue box will appear, allowing confirmation for sharing in either Standard Quality or HD Quality, displaying associated file sizes. Upon pressing send, you can send the video as usual.
Images and videos shared on WhatsApp benefit from the company’s end-to-end encryption.
Meta states that they are currently rolling out the feature, so if it is not yet available to you, it will be soon.
