Five Frontier Corps (FC) personnel lost their lives, and at least 12 others sustained injuries on Sunday when a powerful explosion struck an FC convoy on the national highway in Noshki, officials reported.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Zafarullah Sumalani, preliminary findings indicate that the explosion was a suicide attack. He stated that evidence from the scene suggests a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden vehicle into the convoy, causing the deadly blast.
The wounded were swiftly transported to the FC Camp and Noshki Teaching Hospital, where an emergency was declared. SHO Sumalani warned that the casualty count might rise, as several of the injured were in critical condition.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. In an official statement, he vowed that those responsible for disturbing the province’s peace would face severe consequences.
“Such cowardly acts cannot shake our resolve,” he affirmed. “Terrorists have no place in Balochistan, and peace will be maintained at all costs.”
Bugti reiterated that all necessary measures would be taken to bring those responsible to justice. “This fight will continue until every last terrorist is eradicated,” he said, emphasizing that the people of Balochistan owe a great debt to the security personnel who sacrifice their lives for the nation.
The Balochistan government also condemned the attack. Spokesperson Shahid Rind described targeting innocent civilians as a “brutal act” and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
“Enemy forces are attempting to destabilize the country,” the statement read. “However, such acts of terror will not break the morale of the people.”
Rind assured the affected families of full support during this difficult time.
