The daughter of former Quetta Commissioner Iftikhar Jogezai is accused of assaulting a private airline crew member, resulting in the detention of both her and her father by the Airport Security Force (ASF).
According to airline staff, Saima Jogezai, who was travelling with her father, got into a heated argument with a female flight attendant and punched her in the nose, leaving her injured.
The incident took place on Serene Air flight 540, traveling from Quetta to Islamabad. Witnesses stated that the father-daughter pair had already exhibited inappropriate behavior during check-in at Quetta Airport.
Once onboard, the situation escalated when a flight attendant requested Saima Jogezai to fasten her seatbelt and secure her meal tray. She reportedly became enraged, used offensive language, and caused a disruption.
Sources indicate that the flight attendant promptly notified the captain, who then contacted air traffic control and had the plane return to the runway.
ASF officers were called aboard, and the captain instructed that both passengers be removed from the flight.
However, Saima Jogezai refused to deboard and, in a fit of rage, punched the flight attendant in the face. The impact caused the flight attendant’s nose to bleed, and one of her teeth was broken.
After the assault, ASF detained both the father and daughter. However, sources suggest that the Balochistan administration intervened, pressuring the airline to drop the matter.
Officials from the airline reported that shortly after the incident, the Quetta Commissioner arrived at the airport, spoke with ASF, and requested that the issue be resolved.
According to airline sources, the commissioner arranged for a written apology from both the father and daughter before their release.
The injured flight attendant was taken to the hospital for treatment, and Serene Air has confirmed the incident.
