On Sunday, Emir of Kuwait Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani accepted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation to visit Pakistan.
The acceptance was conveyed during separate meetings between the prime minister and the ambassadors of Kuwait and Qatar in Islamabad. Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi, and Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, delivered letters from the emirs expressing their intentions to visit Pakistan on mutually agreed dates.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, upon receiving the letters, reflected on his recent meeting with the Kuwaiti emir at the World Economic Forum’s special session in Riyadh last month. He also expressed his satisfaction with the upcoming Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission meeting scheduled to take place in Kuwait from May 28 to 30.
In his discussion with the Qatari ambassador, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its longstanding fraternal relationship with Qatar. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Pakistan enjoys strong relations with both Gulf nations. In March, Prime Minister Shehbaz had extended an invitation to the Emir of Kuwait to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience. During this meeting, the prime minister also stressed the importance of implementing bilateral agreements worth $10 billion, signed between Pakistan and Kuwait in November of the previous year. He emphasized the need for joint efforts to expedite the execution of these seven agreements, underscoring Pakistan’s value for its historic and deep-rooted ties with Kuwait.
