Dealers Warn of Imminent Petrol and Diesel Shortages in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Oil dealers raised alarms on Monday, cautioning that numerous petrol pumps in Rawalpindi and Islamabad are at risk of running out of fuel due to disruptions caused by road closures amid Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests.

The dealers emphasized that fuel supplies must resume promptly, as current stocks are nearing depletion. If deliveries are not restored by the end of Monday, a significant shortage could ensue, impacting both cities.

In response to the potential crisis, the Petroleum Division issued a circular urging oil dealers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel. The division stressed the importance of maintaining adequate reserves to prevent disruption in essential services.

Meanwhile, security measures have heightened in the capital as the PTI convoy continues its march towards Islamabad. Key roads have been cordoned off, causing widespread traffic disruptions. Security forces have been deployed across the city to manage the situation, and educational institutions in Islamabad were closed on Monday as a precautionary measure.

The combination of roadblocks and security arrangements has significantly impacted supply chains, raising concerns about potential shortages. Authorities and stakeholders are being urged to collaborate to address the issue and minimize public inconvenience.
