Deal or Dheal: Imran Khan to sit back and observe appointment of new army chief

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan today gave a free-hand to the government to appoint new army chief by giving up his earlier stance.

Khan said that the government has a free hand to do what it wants _ regarding appointment of new army chief.

However, he did not forget to accuse PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and said that he was seeking the appointment of COAS who could protect his interests.

Khan, nevertheless, said that no COAS goes against the interest of the people.

“We have stepped back from the issue, and now it is up to the government to do what it wants.”

Regarding gift-selling scandal, Imran said that was a fake news and it was a propagated in the media while he had evidence of selling Toshakhana watch in Islamabad.

PTI chairman also claimed that he was being approached for negotiations. However, he added, he has refused to hold talks until the date for new elections was given.

Khan regretted that his statement regarding relations with the US was misquoted and said that he always prioritized Pakistan’s interest over any other thing.

PTI chief said that the US was behind his ouster from the government, but he wanted to keep good relations with the United States in the national interest.
