Crown Prince MBS Approves Minister to Sign Energy Cooperation MoU with Pakistan

Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad Bin Salman, chaired a cabinet meeting where he authorized the KSA Minister of Energy, or his deputy, to negotiate and sign a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) for energy cooperation with Pakistan.

According to the Saudi Gazette, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Media, Salman Al-Dosari, stated that the Council approved a cooperation agreement between the Saudi Presidency of State Security and Pakistan to combat terrorism and its financing.

The cabinet also authorized the Minister of Interior, or his deputy, to negotiate and sign a draft MoU with Qatar’s Ministry of Interior for scientific, training, and research activities. Additionally, the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, or his deputy, was authorized to discuss and sign a draft MoU for environmental protection cooperation with Tajikistan’s Committee for Environmental Protection.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reassured the Saudi public about the health of King Salman, who is receiving treatment for a lung infection at Al-Salam Palace. Chairing the weekly Council of Ministers session in Jeddah, the Crown Prince prayed for the King’s swift recovery and expressed gratitude to those concerned about the Monarch’s health.

At the beginning of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on his participation in the 33rd Arab Summit in Manama, Bahrain. He emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Arab and regional issues, joint Arab action, regional security, and the protection of Arab interests during the 32nd Presidency of the Arab Summit, which Saudi Arabia held.

Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, noted that the Cabinet discussed recent government activities, particularly efforts to enhance regional and international cooperation and to advance bilateral and multilateral partnerships across various sectors with friendly nations.

The Cabinet praised the success of the second ministerial meeting of the Net-Zero Producers Forum, hosted by Saudi Arabia, highlighting the Kingdom’s leadership in addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Furthermore, the Council commended the recommendations of the Arab Forum of Anti-Corruption Agencies and Financial Intelligence Units, held in Riyadh, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to international cooperation in combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and corruption.
