Corps Commander Balochistan, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem, conducted a visit to the flood-affected regions of Gwadar district on Sunday to firsthand assess the situation and provide support to the victims.

During the visit, Lt Gen Rahat Naseem, accompanied by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Gwadar Division, engaged in crucial discussions with local authorities and community leaders to understand the challenges facing the affected population. He was briefed on the immediate relief measures taken by teams to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.

Interacting with social and regional elders, Lt Gen Rahat Naseem reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Army to ensure the prompt delivery of relief and rehabilitation efforts in collaboration with civil administration. He assured the affected communities of the Pakistan Army’s steadfast support, emphasizing that aid teams would remain in the affected regions to provide timely relief measures to those dealing with the aftermath of the floods.

In a demonstration of their commitment to assistance, the Pakistan Army expedited the delivery of 17 large and small water pumps from Quetta to Gwadar to address the urgent need for water management in flood-affected areas.

The visit by Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem underscores the proactive stance of the Pakistan Army in times of crisis, reaffirming their dedication to standing alongside the citizens of Balochistan, offering solace and assistance in the face of adversity.

Heavy rains had caused significant damage in Gwadar, Makran, and northern and central parts of Balochistan, suspending normal life and traffic. The 30-hour-long rains triggered flash floods, submerging most areas. Paramilitary forces were called in for rescue and relief operations, and a state of emergency was declared by the Gwadar district administration in the rain-affected areas.
