KURRAM: Clashes between two tribes in Upper Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 11 individuals, including women and children, as reported by ARY News. The Deputy Commissioner confirmed that six others were injured during the violent confrontations.
This incident is part of a troubling pattern, as just last month, seven people were killed in a shooting related to a land dispute in Lower Kurram district. Authorities are now working diligently to establish a ceasefire between the warring factions to prevent further violence.
In a related development, security forces have conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kurram, where they neutralized seven militants known as khawarij. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that these militants had been implicated in multiple attacks against both security personnel and civilians.
The military’s media wing stated that during the operation, troops effectively targeted the militants’ positions, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals identified as part of the militant group Fitna Al Khawarij. Additionally, five militants were reported injured.
The ISPR emphasized that the operation also led to the destruction of khawarij hideouts and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. This action highlights ongoing security challenges in the region, where tribal conflicts and militant activities continue to pose serious threats to stability and safety.
Local police remain committed to facilitating peace talks, while the military’s operations aim to curtail the influence of extremist elements in the area. The situation remains tense, and authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant.
