An Israeli journalist recently participated in detonating a civilian structure in southern Lebanon amid intensifying Israeli air and ground operations in the area, as shown in a video broadcast.
Footage aired by Israeli Channel 12 features news presenter Danny Kushmaro in a bulletproof vest and helmet, receiving instructions from a soldier on triggering an explosive device. In the video, Kushmaro listens as the soldier claims a nearby gray building was allegedly used for rocket fire into northern Israel.
After a countdown, Kushmaro presses the detonator button, causing the building to collapse into a cloud of smoke. The Israeli army filmed the detonation from the air, sharing the footage with Channel 12.
The incident, which took place in southern Lebanon amid Israel’s recent ground incursion, lacked specific timing or location details. Journalistic codes of ethics emphasize that reporters should remain neutral observers, refraining from direct involvement in armed conflicts.
Israel’s air campaign in Lebanon escalated last month, following over a year of cross-border hostilities with Hezbollah that intensified after the start of Israel’s large-scale war in Gaza. According to Lebanese health authorities, more than 2,650 people have been killed and over 12,300 injured since last year due to Israeli actions.
On October 1, Israel expanded its offensive by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon.
