ISLAMABAD: The body of a 15-year-old boy who had been reported missing while hiking was tragically discovered on Islamabad’s Trail 5, as confirmed by Wildlife Department sources on Monday.
According to police reports, the teenager’s body was found in a deep ditch, indicating a possible fall.
The discovery was made by staff members of the Forest and Environment Department, who promptly notified the police.
Efforts are underway by police and rescue officials to retrieve the body from the ditch along Islamabad’s Trail 5. The rescue department plans to use an iron rod in the recovery operation.
Upon identification, family members of the deceased rushed to the scene for confirmation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the boy slipped into the ditch and suffered fatal injuries.
Present at the site of the incident are Superintendent of Police (SP) city, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Rescue 1122, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) officials, as well as Wildlife and Forest Department teams.
Recently, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi launched the Margalla Trail Patrol initiative aimed at safeguarding the scenic trails of Margalla Hills in Islamabad.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Naqvi emphasized the importance of this step, particularly for the safety of foreigners who frequent these picturesque locations.
The unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the inherent risks associated with outdoor activities and the critical importance of safety measures and vigilance, especially in rugged terrain such as hiking trails.
