KARACHI: In a startling development arising from the recent crackdown on smuggled goods in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Maymar area, shocking revelations have emerged, implicating officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the illicit enterprise.
A report authored by ASP Orangi has laid bare a disturbing nexus between CTD officers in Karachi and the smugglers operating in the region. According to the report, a CTD armored vehicle was purportedly utilized in the smuggling operation, with one officer allegedly maintaining a warehouse to stash the illicit goods.
The report provides intricate details of the smuggling endeavor, which involved the transportation of contraband in three buses. Armed personnel, both in uniform and plainclothes, were reportedly observed at the scene. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, two buses had already been emptied, while the unloading of the third was still in progress.
Furthermore, the report exposes the involvement of a CTD armored vehicle in facilitating the smuggling operation.
In a concerning turn of events, a smuggler identified as Bilal, hailing from Quetta, was reportedly permitted to evade capture in his own vehicle. Allegations suggest that a CTD officer’s residence served as a clandestine warehouse for the illicit goods. Sub-Inspector Nar Khan has been specifically named in the report as the officer purportedly utilizing the armored vehicle for smuggling endeavors.
These revelations underscore the urgent need for thorough investigations and stringent actions against any individuals found complicit in such illegal activities. The integrity of law enforcement agencies must be upheld to ensure the safety and security of the public. Upholding transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies is paramount to maintaining public trust and safeguarding against abuses of power.
