ISLAMABAD: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has conducted 189 intelligence-based operations across various cities in Punjab, resulting in the arrest of 10 suspected terrorists, according to official sources.
Among the arrested are two high-profile suspects, Badal Singh and Suraj Singh, apprehended in Rawalpindi. Authorities confirmed that explosive materials were recovered from their possession. Both individuals are reportedly residents of Nankana Sahib.
These operations were carried out in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Jhelum. In addition to these targeted missions, the CTD also carried out 2,053 combing operations this week alone, questioning 82,473 individuals and arresting 263 suspects.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and minority rights during a media briefing in Nankana Sahib.
He stated that Pakistan has consistently promoted peace and ensured the protection of religious minorities, noting that Sikh, Hindu, and other communities enjoy full freedom under the law.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to support Sikh pilgrims, the minister announced the construction of 100 international-standard rooms at Gurdwara Janam Asthan to better accommodate visitors from around the world.
