Arrest Warrants Against Mahmood Khan Achakzai Cancelled by Court

Mahmood Khan Achakzai

QUETTA: A local court in Quetta made a significant decision on Saturday, canceling the arrest warrants issued for Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

The court’s decision suspended the arrest warrant against Achakzai and instructed the police not to apprehend him until the next scheduled hearing of the case.

Earlier, on Friday, a judicial magistrate had issued arrest warrants for Mahmood Khan Achakzai after he failed to appear in court on April 22.

The warrants were issued in connection with a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Gawalmandi police under Sections 447, 448, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, related to criminal trespass and house-trespass with common intention.

The judicial magistrate had directed the police to present Achakzai before the court on April 27 (today), prompting the issuance of the arrest warrants.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the local court in Quetta nullified these arrest warrants, effectively relieving Achakzai from the immediate threat of arrest.

The decision to cancel the arrest warrants signifies a legal victory for Achakzai and his legal team, who likely argued against the necessity of his immediate arrest.

This development also raises questions about the circumstances surrounding Achakzai’s absence from the court hearing and the subsequent issuance of arrest warrants.

The specific details regarding the allegations against Achakzai, as outlined in the FIR, remain a subject of legal scrutiny and will likely be addressed in subsequent court proceedings.

Overall, the cancellation of the arrest warrants brings a temporary reprieve for Mahmood Khan Achakzai, allowing him to continue his activities without the looming threat of imminent arrest, at least until the next hearing of the case.
