Ashura Days: Islamabad police bans motorbikes entry in red zone: Pillion riding also banned in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police announced a ban on the entry of motorcycles in the Red Zone until 12th of Muharram in connection with Ashura days.

From today, police will not allow entry of motorbikes in the Red Zone in Islamabad.

According to police, a shuttle service will transport the people during this ban from three designated spots _ Serena Chowk, NADRA Chowk, and Parade Avenue.

This temporary restriction is to maintain security during important days of Muharram.

Sindh govt bans pillion riding

Meanwhile, the Sindh government also imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi from Muharram 8 to 10 _ July 27 to July 29.

Sindh government issued a notification with a list of rules for the first 10 days of Muharram. The provincial administration took the decision under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

“No one can carry any arms or ammunition with the exception of law enforcers. More than five people cannot gather unless there is a procession, majlis, or tazia,” notification said.

Nonetheless, the ban on pillion riding will not be applicable on women, children below 12 years of age, senior citizens, journalists, disabled persons, law enforcers, and employees of essential services.

CTD Punjab arrests four suspects ahead of Ashura days

uring the holy month of Muharram, Punjab’s CTD apprehended four suspected terrorists in Rawalpindi through a swift intelligence-based operation. The operation aimed to anticipate and prevent potential terrorist activities.

CTD officials reported that they arrested individuals with affiliations to notorious terrorist groups.

These groups include Daesh, TTP, and Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). These individuals were allegedly planning dangerous acts within Rawalpindi.

Law enforcement conducted an operation and confiscated a significant amount of dangerous materials, including explosives, detonators, safety fuses, and cash. They believe these materials were in the possession of the suspects.

The authorities have successfully identified the suspects in question, namely Ajmal Amin, Feroze, Hamid Bashir, and Owais Shah.
